Frequently Asked Questions

Have any questions? Here are the Frequently Asked Questions on the Homestar Runner Fanstuff Wiki 2. If you have a question, remember to check here first!

How can I create fanstuff?

We would recommend creating an account and reading the guidelines before sharing your fanstuff. First, you need an idea for your fanstuff. What type will it be? What will it be about? What will the title be? Search for that title to make sure it isn't taken. If it doesn't exist already, go to that page and create it! (Read the next section for information on creating a page.)

If your fanstuff is an email show, a text adventure, or almost anything else, it will probably require multiple pages. Use subpages to organize the pages of your fanstuff. If your email show is called "Mr. Bland Emails", and the first email is called "homestar", don't create the page [[homestar]]; instead, create [[Mr. Bland Emails/homestar]]. You can create as many subpages as you want. When you're done, add your fanstuff to one of the portals where it belongs.

How do I create a page?

There are several ways to create a page.

  • One way is to type the name of the page into your URL, after
  • Another is to search for that page and click on the link if it doesn't exist.
  • You can also create a link to it on another page, save the page or show preview, and click on that link.

When you're done, click "Save page". See Help:Editing for information on editing and formatting.

How do I upload images?

You'll notice that if you go to Special:Upload and upload an image, it won't work. This is because the wiki has no more space to host images. So, how do you upload images?

First, post your images on an image hosting site, like Imgur. Instructions will vary depending on what website you use. When you've uploaded the image, simply click on the link to your file and copy the URL. Post the URL on a wiki page and your image will appear!

Unfortunately, you can't change the size of externally hosted images or create galleries with them. However, you can create thumbnails using the {{thumb}} template. You can also align your images to the left or right by using <div style="text-align:right">IMAGE URL</div> and link your images to other pages using {{imagelink}}.

How can I remove vandalism?

Anyone can edit the HRFWiki2, even without an account. Unfortunately, this means that people may post spam or deface pages on the wiki. However, removing vandalism is easy. Simply click on the "View history" tab at the top of the page, and click "(undo)" and save the page to delete the edit.

How do I delete an article or an image?

Only sysops can delete articles and images, but there's an easy way for you to alert the sysops to pages that should be deleted. Just edit the article and add {{delete|Add reason here.}} at the top. If you've done it right, you should see a box like this one at the top of the page:

"Garbage. Garbage. Rubbish. Umm... murder weapon."

This page is currently pending deletion.

Reason: Add reason here.

The code also adds the article to a special "Pages for deletion" category. The sysops check this category regularly and will delete articles and images in it.

How can I become a sysop?

The wiki does not take on new sysops very often, but you can find out how to become one here.

Why can't I see some images?

This wiki was originally intended to host Pokémon fanstuff, until the creator, Mewcake, decided to change it. Because of this, the wiki has two URLs: fanstuff2 and celebimail. Because most of the images are hosted on the celebimail URL, some images might not work on fanstuff2. All of the images work on the celebimail URL, which can be found here.

What do I do if my question isn't here?

There are lots of places to ask questions! You can ask here or here, or simply ask one of the sysops on their talk page.
